Good Friday Endings . . . and Beginnings

Jesus . . . said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.  John 19:30

This day, Good Friday, is one of the most important days for the Christian church. It was on this day that the perfect Son of God gave himself as sacrifice for all our sins. “It is finished!” he cried out. It was by his wounds that we are healed.

As we approach the end of Lent, let us not be quick to forget our own unworthiness. Let us not be too eager to go back to chocolate or meat or whatever we may have “given up” during this time. Let us, instead, remember Christ’s words from the cross. His work of redemption was finished; our work of living post-Calvary, Christ-filled lives was just beginning.

Today, look for signs of God’s grace in your life. What small blessings have you been taking for granted? What opportunities to show Christian love have you been ignoring? Let Christ’s love—demonstrated so vividly on the cross—shine in your life this day.
