Day 7: God’s Own Lamb

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”  John 1:29

The lamb is the most frequently mentioned animal in the Bible. Its commonness made it perfect for analogies and parables. For thousands of years, blood offerings of lambs and other creatures stayed the wrath of God and atoned for the sins of the people. Advent celebrates the coming of the Lamb of God—a sacrifice so perfect it would atone for all human beings, so complete it would abolish blood sacrifices forever. Praise the Lamb!
